Ticket to Work (TTW) Program

The TTW program is one option you have for accessing Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) services. If you are a recipient of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or a beneficiary of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) because of a disability and you are between 18 and 64 years old, you may be eligible for the TTW program and services from the DOR.

You have the choice to either assign your ticket to either an Employment Network (EN) or use it with a State Vocational Rehabilitation Agency (like DOR). If you use your ticket with DOR, and you are eligible to receive services, you will work with a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor to develop an employment goal together. You and the counselor will develop an Individual Plan for Employment (IPE) that will include the steps necessary to achieve your employment goal. For example, you may find that you require some specific training or certification courses in order to achieve your employment goal. As long as it is necessary to gain employment and it is authorized under our regulations, DOR can pay for things like training, supplies and interviewing clothes.

Many people choose to use their ticket at DOR for more intensive employment services to start employment. Once your DOR case is closed, you have the option to assign your ticket to an Employment Network that can provide post-employment supports and job retention services as needed.

What if I don’t want to use my Ticket at DOR?

If you find that DOR may not be a suitable option for you, you can also choose to assign your ticket to an Employment Network for employment services. A directory of ENs can be found on the Social Security Ticket to Work Program Find Help Page.

Are there any other benefits to using my Ticket?

Yes! There is great news! As long as your ticket is assigned (or “In-Use”) at DOR or an EN, and you are making Timely Progress towards employment, you are protected from the Social Security Administration’s Medical Continuing Disability Reviews.

The TTW Program is designed to work in conjunction with other work incentives, offered by the Social Security Administration, which can help you retain your benefits while you are exploring employment options.
