Hello, my name is Elena Atengco. I’ve worked for the San Jose District DOR for over 18 years. For the past 3 and a half years, I’ve been working as the Student Services Coordinator for the Salinas Branch office. I work with our Student Service Counselor, Roxana Bloch. We serve the entire Monterey County, the Monterey Peninsula school districts, South County school districts, North Monterey County School District, and the Salinas Union High School District. We also serve students from charter schools, private schools, and home-schooled students. We’ve done outreach and received referrals from private and public organizations that serve youth and we’ll soon be providing services for justice involved youth. I enjoy working together with such a dedicated PE Team and Team Manager, Mimi Laurent.

Hello, I am the Student Services Counselor for the Salinas Branch office working along with our Service Coordinator Elena Atengco, we serve the entire Monterey County. We work with most Districts in the region emphasizing those without another alternative contract such as King City/Greenfield & Soledad/Gonzalez but we also have many out of contract students from the Salinas Unified District and the Districts serving the Monterey Peninsula and surrounding areas. We also reached students outside the school system through Recreation Parks, private schools, foster care system, clubs, groups of parents of children with disabilities and more. And, we are in the initial steps of serving youth with involvement with the judicial system. Our current caseload of PE only cases (not in contracts) is of 167 students and growing!!

About me: I originally joined DOR in 2014 as a QRP in the Bay Area, Fremont Branch where I worked in a satellite office located in Livermore, Ca. I had my first experiences connecting with school districts and sites where youth could be reached. In 2018, I joined Salinas Branch as a PE counselor and I love it!
